Wasp Season
29th of May, 2024
The wasp season is almost upon us. Depending on the weather this summer we may have a busy season or if there is lots of rain, a quieter season will evolve.
Wasps make their nests from chewed wood pulp and saliva, giving them distinctive papery walls normally a light brown colour but not always.
Nests are built in sheltered areas with easy access to the outside. You can often find wasp nests in cavities, roof voids, eaves, bird boxes, sheds and garages.
If you have a wasp nest there will be a steady flow of activity with the insects entering one particular point. This can increase to two or three points as the nest size changes if untreated. At first, a wasp nest will start off very small normally the size of a golf ball.
As summer progresses the nest will grow rapidly in size as the number of wasps increase. The nest will become increasingly bigger and if untreated can in the right conditions get as big as a wheelie bin!
Swift action is always the best policy once you discover a nest.Call pest-master if assistance is required!
